Uncommon Treatments for the Common Headache:
My Research World Before IHMC

Dr. Frank Andrasik

Headaches are surprisingly common among children, adolescents, and adults. For a sizeable number of people, headaches can lead to considerable pain, suffering, and disability. Medication is the most common form of treatment, but it is not effective for all patients, it produces undesirable side effects for some, and for others it is inconsistent with personal treatment preferences. The presenter has spent much of his career exploring alternative approaches to headache management, chiefly those concerning relaxation, biofeedback, and cognitive coping strategies. He will review the history of these treatments, summarize the current evidence-base supporting their use, and discuss his current and future research projects.
